Why Should I Join the PTA?
Parent and family involvement with the school has proven to positively impact students’ success. Once you join, you will receive weekly email updates about all that is happening in the school. These important messages provide calendar reminders, upcoming programs, and ways to get involved. Our membership goal is 100% participation.
How Do I Join the PTA?
Joining the PTA is simpler than ever! Simply click here. If you’d prefer a paper application, one can be found in the main office or in your student’s folder the first weeks of school. Membership dues are $7.50 for the first person and $5 for each additional member. Parents, Grandparents, friends and community members are encouraged to join. Paper applications must be accompanied by check. Please make checks payable to: Larchmont Elementary PTA or (LES PTA)
What does the PTA Do?
The PTA supports the education of our children by funding, supporting, and staffing various programs. That may mean buying educational tools such as SMART boards or classroom materials or helping teachers in and out of their classrooms. We raise money by coordinating rewards programs (box tops, Harris Teeter TIE, etc.) and with our three main fundraising events during the school year (RAT Race, Book Fair, and Spring Carnival). We raise our funds these ways rather than selling wrapping paper or candy door-to-door.
How Do I Become Involved?
We urge you to check the weekly e-mails and refer to the website. There are countless ways to help! By making your Amazon purchases on Amazon Smile, collecting box tops, volunteering at an event, or sending in items for SCA food drives, there is a way for everyone to contribute. We want to make sure that all volunteers feel appreciated and valued…because that is what makes Larchmont so fantastic! Whether you sell some popcorn at the Carnival, send in donations, or lend us a cooler, every little bit counts!
Are there meetings?
Yes, we meet once a month and love to see as many faces as possible. Meetings alternate monthly between a morning meeting at the school and an evening meeting at Lambert’s Point Recreation Center. Lambert’s Point even provides child care for registered students!
Do I have to attend the meetings?
No, but if you’d like a say in what the PTA does you should attend the meetings. If there is an issue you would like to discuss contact our PTA President about adding it to the agenda.
